Tips for a Healthy 4th of July

The 4th of July is a fun holiday shared with friends, family and, of course food, booze and fireworks.

But, you can still have fun without sacrificing your health and fitness goals and sabotaging good habits.

While there will be a lot of tempting food and beverages – you don’t have to chose the beaten path…this holiday can either derail you or keep you moving closer to your goals.

Here are a few tips that will help keep you on track, swap out bad for the good, and overcome temptations.

First, your mindset is critical as we head into the holiday weekend…you will become stronger if you can make it through the weekend without caving to the sugar loaded drinks and greasy foods.

Is Convenience Worth It?

You come home from a long day of work to find frozen chicken thighs in the freezer. The thought of thawing them, cooking them and finding a side dish to serve alongside them? Not convincing.

Instead, you pull up UberEats or Grubhub to order dinner from a restaurant near you. You do this even though you’ll have to pay not only for the food but also a delivery fee, too, in most cases. That chicken might already be in your house, but it’s frozen far too solid to be convenient.

People are willing to pay for convenience – sometimes even rather hefty fees. A lot of people pay for things like lawn care, household cleaning, and a good parking spot - especially if you commute. But, let's talk about the true cost of dining out. It’s not just about the amount of extra money you will spend dining out, ordering delivery or picking up take-out. Dining out also impacts your waistline as the food typically has much more fat, carbs, and sodium.

Labor Day Recipes 2019

We LOVE us a good BBQ, but let's be honest, the choices at BBQs aren't always the most refined :) 

And it can be tough to figure out what to eat that is going to help you enjoy the food AND not feel extra blah walking away from the party.  So we found a few awesome recipes from some awesome people that know how to cook (because let's be honest, we love food, and we love helping others love food - but having time to create new recipes just ain't in our priorities).
